Max and Her StepMom

Max, a 20-year-old college girl, lives with her Dad and stepmom. She works hard and goes to school, but she doesn’t appreciate all the hard work her stepmom does at home.

A 20-year-old college girl named Max studying at a desk with books and a laptop. She looks stressed but determined.

Her stepmom cleans most of the day, tidying everyone else’s lazy messes, and deep cleans the house. She handles constant laundry, dishes, a puppy, and three huge fish tanks.

Although Max acts nice on the surface, she will randomly lash out, saying her stepmom is lazy and should get a job. This hurts her stepmom’s feelings very much.

One evening, Max came home from a particularly exhausting day at school and found her stepmom sitting in the living room, surrounded by stacks of laundry. Max noticed the tired lines on her stepmom’s face, which she hadn’t really seen before. For the first time, she realized how much her stepmom actually did for their family, unnoticed and unappreciated.

Feeling a pang of guilt, Max hesitated before sitting down next to her stepmom. "I’m sorry," she began, the words coming out more sincerely than she expected. "I didn’t mean those things I said... I’ve been so focused on my own stuff that I didn’t see how hard you work." Her stepmom smiled softly, the tension easing from her face as she patted Max’s hand, grateful for the unexpected kindness.
