Once there was a small, wide-eyed creature named Pip. He pressed his face against the bakery window and exclaimed, "Oh wow! Look at those cakes!" His big eyes sparkled at the colorful treats inside. Just then, a burly chef came out and, noticing Pip, scooped him up and set him down hard on the pavement. Pip’s dreams of cake vanished like a puff of smoke. He sighed, feeling sad and small.
Later, Pip found himself at a birthday party. A big sign read, "Happy Birthday!" with cheerful lions and cats enjoying their cakes. Pip wanted to join them but felt alone. His heart ached. "I want to belong, too," he whispered, wiping a tear. Then he had a bright idea! He found some white paint and a mirror. He painted himself to look like a statue and sat on a stool. A kind boy dropped a coin into his bowl, and everyone clapped. Pip counted his coins, all smiles. He could buy his own cake now! The baker smiled at him when he returned, and Pip finally got his special cake to celebrate with his new puppy friends.
